Green electricity from wind power is politically desired. The energy transition and climate goals can be achieved with it. But the construction of wind turbines often encounters resistance on the ground. In a position paper, experts from the Renewable Energies/Wind Power research network have called for more comprehensive research into which reservations there are and in which contexts. According to the signatories of the position paper, the information gained would enable, for example, the legal framework and public relations work to be improved and implemented more location-specifically.

The Renewable Energies Research Network was founded on the initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). It serves as an information and discussion platform for wind and solar power experts – for example from industry, universities, research institutes and politics. It also forwards suggestions for research priorities to the BMWi and provides specific implementation ideas for topic settings or funding concepts.

The members of the Acceptance and Accompanying Research working group from the research network see a specific need for action. They point out that if projects are not accepted, the German government's climate targets cannot be achieved. They are therefore calling for these issues to be given greater consideration within the framework of the Energy Collection Act and other legislative projects, and for research activities in this area to be stepped up.
